Eco Friendly Handicrafts Workshop
An eco-friendly craft experience featuring the traditional art of pan
reed weaving, this immersive program invites tourists to connect with
local Sri Lankan artisans in Negombo while creating sustainable
products that reflect the country’s commitment to preserving its
cultural and environmental heritage.
Participants will engage with the artistry of pan reed weaving, a
craft passed down through generations in rural communities. Guided by
skilled artisans, they will create functional and decorative items
such as baskets, mats, and ornaments. The program ensures an
unforgettable and meaningful encounter with Sri Lankan tradition by
blending cultural education, creative activities, and sustainability.
This initiative preserves the artistry of pan reed weaving by
promoting it to an international audience, providing economic
opportunities for local artisans, and celebrating their craft.
Tourists leave with their own handmade products and a deep connection
to Sri Lanka’s rich cultural identity.
