Clay Plate Painting Program
The Clay Plate Painting workshop offers clients a detailed, hands-on
experience in creating unique clay plate artworks. This event focuses
on learning and practicing traditional plate painting techniques
inspired by the coastal culture and fishing heritage of Negombo, Sri
Lanka. Participants will receive guidance on painting techniques and
locally inspired motifs, such as fishing boats, marine life, and
waves. They can also relax and enjoy a 'sip and paint' moment with
refreshments, making the experience both creative and enjoyable.
The workshop includes an introductory session on the historical
significance of clay plate painting across cultures, followed by a
two-hour painting session led by Sri Lankan professional artisans. At
the end, each plate is sealed to preserve the painting. The experience
concludes with a sharing circle where participants discuss their
artwork, enhancing cultural appreciation and fostering community
connections.
